Steve Carell in Talks to Join Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling in THE BIG SHORT

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Steve Carell is in talks to join Brad Pitt, Christian Bale and Ryan Gosling in the upcoming big screen adaptation of Michael Lewis's book THE BIG SHORT for Pitt's Plan B and Paramount.

Adam McKay will write and direct the feature

Per Variety's report yesterday, Lewis's nonfiction work "The Big Short: Inside the Doomsday Machine" follows "the build-up of the housing and credit bubble during the 2000s that led to the financial crisis of 2007-2010" and centers on "several key people who played a role in creating the disastrous credit bubble."

Pitt's Plan B has also worked on Moneyball, 12 YEARS A SLAVE and current MLK biopic Selma.

Carell recently appeared in Foxcatcher, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day and The Minions.

His recent big screen credits include Anchorman 2, Despicable Me 2, NBC's The Office, The Incredible Burt Wonderstone, The Way Way Back, Seeking a Friend at the End of the World, Crazy, Stupid, Love. and more.

Pitt will next be seen in By the Sea. He recently appeared on the big screen in Fury, The Counselor, 12 YEARS A SLAVE and World War Z.

Bale's upcoming projects include Knight of Cups, The Creed of Violence and Jungle Book: Origins. He last appeared in the films Exodus: Gods and Kings, AMERICAN HUSTLE and The Dark Knight Rises.

Gosling is currently working on The Nice Guys and recently starred in Only God Forgives, Gangster Squad, The Place Beyond the Pines, Drive, Blue Valentine, THE NOTEBOOK and more.
