Museum of the Moving Image is pleased to present a special 30th anniversary screening of Sesame Street Presents Follow that Bird, the 1985 film that starred Big Bird in his first big-screen role. The screening on Sunday, July 19, at 1:00 p.m. will be introduced by Emilio Delgado who plays Luis on Sesame Street and Craig Shemin, President of The Jim Henson Legacy and the curator of the monthly Museum series Jim Henson's World.

Big Bird (performed by Carol Spinney, subject of the acclaimed new documentary I Am Big Bird) made his big-screen debut 30 years ago in Sesame Street Presents: Follow that Bird. Featuring a cast of Sesame Street regulars as well as a star-studded array of cameo guests including Chevy Chase, John Candy, and Waylon Jennings, the movie follows Big Bird's journey back to Sesame Street after a well-intentioned social worker places him within a family of birds, far away from his friends. (Dir. Ken Kwapis. 1985, 88 mins. Digital projection. With Carol Spinney, Jim Henson, Frank Oz.)

Tickets are $12 ($9 senior citizens and students / $6 children 3-12) and free for Museum members at the Film Lover level and above. Advance tickets are available online at movingimage.us. The film is appropriate for all ages.

Jim Henson's World is an ongoing series of programs including screenings and live events that celebrate the imaginative, playful, creative, and prolific film and television work of Jim Henson. In winter 2015, the Museum will open a permanent gallery and exhibition devoted to Henson and his creations.
