According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Shannon has signed on to the cast of Ramin Bahrani's 99 HOMES. The actor joins previously announced cast member Andrew Garfield in the drama.

The story, penned by Bahrani, sees Garfield portraying a man who loses his home to foreclosure and is forced to take a job with the sly real estate broker, (Shannon) who took his home away. The broker "entices him into schemes to embezzle money from the government."

Michael Shannon has proven himself expertly adept at portraying anti-heroes judging from his stunning work onstage and onscreen in the Tracy Letts drama BUG as well as in Martin McDonagh's THE PILLOWMAN in addition to many other notable unpleasant characters to date, ranging from REVOLUTIONARY ROAD to BOARDWALK EMPIRE to the forthcoming THE ICEMAN. Shannon made his Broadway debut in last year's GRACE, co-starring Paul Rudd.
