Michael Pena in Talks to Join Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas in ANT-MAN
Marvel continues to work on enlisting all-star talent for ANT-MAN.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Pena has entered negotations to join Michael Douglas and Paul Rudd in the studio's latest live-action superhero adaptation. The film is being directed by Edgar Wright. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will produce the film with Nira Park.
Should he sign on, Pena would play a 'tough Latino,' according to insiders. Marvel reportedly considered a slew of actors for the role, including Javier Bardem.
On Douglas' casting yesterday, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said: "With Hank Pym's rich history in the Marvel Universe, we knew we needed an actor capable of bringing the weight and stature to the role that the character deserves. We felt incredibly relieved when Michael Douglas agreed to step into the part with the charm and fortitude he brings to every character he inhabits, and couldn't be more excited to see what he will do to bring Hank Pym to life."
Ant-Man is scheduled to be released by Walt Disney Pictures on July 31, 2015.
Pena is best known for his roles in SHOOTER, END OF THE LINE, MILLION DOLLAR BABY, and David O. Russell's latest hit AMERICAN HUSTLE. His other credits include THE SHIELD, EASTBOUND & DOWN, and FX's new animated series CHOZEN.
