Lionsgate Sues Leakers of THE EXPENDABLES 3
Anonymity doesn't guarantee avoiding consequences.
According to Entertainment Weekly, film production company, Lionsgate, is suing 10 individuals who anonymously released the next Expendables film, THE EXPENDABLES 3, which stars the ripped stars of pretty much every '80s film.
As BroadwayWorld.com previously reported, Lionsgate learned on July 24 that a copy of the film had been stolen, digitally uploaded to the internet, and had since been digitally downloaded one million times. Using the following URLs: limetorrents.com and billionuploads.com as the only identifiers, Lionsgate has officially filed a lawsuit against "John Does 1-10." The suit stipulates that Lionsgate sent demand letters to the managers of the sites. Further, the suit says, "By downloading one of these 'torrent' files associated with the Stolen Film from limetorrents.com, users join a 'swarm' where they download parts of the Stolen Film from many different users and also upload to other users parts of the Stolen Film they have already received, until eventually they have reproduced the entire Stolen Film on their own hard drives and in most cases have also uploaded all or a substantial part of the Stolen Film to others."
Lionsgate's steep demands include seeking a temporary restraining order that would prohibit the leakers from continuing to profit from these copies of THE EXPENDABLES 3, also that the perpetrators be unallowed to operate these sites anymore, and that they, "take all steps necessary to recall and recover all copies of the Stolen Film or any portion thereof that they have distributed."
In THE EXPENDABLES 3, Stonebanks, who eluded death once before, now is making it his mission to end The Expendables - but Barney has other plans. Barney decides that he has to fight old blood with new blood, and brings in a new era of Expendables team members, recruiting individuals who are younger, faster and more tech-savvy. The latest mission becomes a clash of classic old-school style versus high-tech expertise in the Expendables' most personal battle yet.
The action film stars Sylvester Stallone, Jason Statham, Jet Li, Dolph Lundgren, Randy Couture, Terry Crews, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Wesley Snipes, Antonio Banderas, Mel Gibson, Harrison Ford, Kellan Lutz, Ronda Rousey, Victor Ortiz, Glen Powell and Kelsey Grammer.
