FROZEN Holds at No. 1 on Billboard 200 for 6th Week

Although the snow is melting quickly here on the east coast, the soundtrack to the hit Disney animated film FROZEN is holding steady in the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200, selling 99,000 copies in the week ending March 16, according to Nielsen SoundScan.

Adding in last week's sales figures, the Oscar winning film is now the first album to sell a million units in 2014 (1.1 million this year), with accumulated total sales of 1.4 million.

Since SoundScan began tracking the Billboard 200 with its point-of-sale data in May 1991, "Frozen" is one of only four soundtracks with six or more weeks at No. 1. The last soundtrack to spend more time at No. 1 was the companion album to Disney's hit animated film "The Lion King," which remained at No. 1 for 10 nonconsecutive weeks in 1994 and 1995. Spending the most weeks at No. 1 is "West Side Story," which ruled the charts for 54 weeks in 1962 and 1963.

About Disney's Frozen: Walt Disney Animation Studios, the studio behind "Tangled" and "Wreck-It Ralph," presents "Frozen," a stunning big-screen comedyadventure. Fearless optimist Anna (voice of Kristen Bell) sets off on an epic journey-teaming up with rugged mountain man Kristoff (voice of Jonathan Groff) and his loyal reindeer Sven-to find her sister Elsa (voice of Idina Menzel), whose icy powers have trapped the kingdom of Arendelle in eternal winter.

Encountering Everest-like conditions, mystical trolls and a hilarious snowman named Olaf, Anna and Kristoff battle the elements in a race to save the kingdom.
