Eastwood Defends Casting Stage Vets in JERSEY BOYS Movie

In a recent interview with MTV, film icon Clint Eastwood defended his choice to cast his movie adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical Jersey Boys with stage veterans. Eastwood said, "It seemed logical to use people that had this tremendous amount of experience playing it."

Dirty Harry went on to add, "Name actors are fine if they fit the parts and everything, but just to use a name for the sake of using a name is not necessarily a positive thing."

The film stars Tony-winner John Lloyd Young as Frankie Valli, who originated the role on Broadway, but other members of the Four Seasons also have history with the show. Erich Bergen appeared in the Los Angeles and Las Vegas productions, while Michael Lomenda was part of the National Tour. The only member not to have been in the show previously is Vincent Piazza, who plays Bob Gaudio. Piazza is familiar to TV fans from the show BOARDWALK EMPIRE.

The reviews for the Jersey Boys film have been mixed (check out our Review Roundup), and it is not expected to do much business at the box office. The movie is out in theaters today, Friday, June 20th.
