CONFIRMED: Kristen Stewart, Rupert Sanders Will Not Return for SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN Prequel

According to the New York Daily News, Kristen Stewart and director Rupert Sanders will not be returning for an upcoming prequel to Universal's SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN. Both names were absent from a press release issued by the studio today.

Chris Hemsworth will star in the upcoming project, set to hit theaters in April 2016. The press release also confirmed that Charlize Theron will reprise her role as villainous Ravenna. Oscar-nominated director Frank Darabont ("Shawshank Redemption") will now helm the project, as per the release.

Universal's Snow White and the Huntsman opened in theaters on June 1, 2012. In the film, Kristen Stewart played the only person in the land fairer than the evil queen (Charlize Theron) who is out to destroy her. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign has been training in the art of war with a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth, Thor) who was dispatched to kill her. Sam Claflin (Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides) portrayed The Prince long enchanted by Snow White's beauty and power.
