According to the Australian site The Iris, actor Benedict Cumberbatch has shot down rumors that he will be appearaing in the highly anticipated next installment of the STAR WARS franchise.

During a Q&A at Oz Comic-Con, the actor revealed, "I would've liked a part in JJ's [Abrams] new Star Wars but it won't happen sadly." To add to the disappointment, the actor also confirmed that he would not be appearing in any future episodes of the BBC series "Doctor Who."

Written by Abrams and Lawrence Kasdan, Star Wars: Episode VII will take place 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi and will follow a trio of new young leads along with some very familiar faces.

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew and Harrison Ford have been rumored to appear as older incarnations of their beloved characters from the original "Star Wars" trilogy. Other possible cast members are Adam Driver, Lupita Nyong'o and John Boyega.

According to reports, Star Wars: Episode VII is currently in production.
