In honor of World Hunger Day on May 28, Sands ECO360° and Sands Cares partnered with local non-profit Three Square Food Bank to hold the second annual "Hunger is Not a Game" food drive, a month-long initiative for team members, that concluded on Monday, June 8.

To commemorate the 16th anniversary of The Venetian Las Vegas, team members were challenged to collect 16,000 food items for the donation to Three Square - a goal they exceeded. Team members collected 30,254 food items. It's estimated that this donation equates to approximately 25,000 meals for those in need in the community.

To build excitement for the food drive effort, four teams of 12, consisting of team members of The Venetian, The Palazzo Las Vegas, and Sands Expo, competed in a team exercise to conceptualize and build a piece of artwork with the cans collected around the theme of "The Venetian."

The fun-filled event took place on Monday, June 8. The winning team, the Can-doliers, created a traditional Venetian theme, including a gondola, the Rialto Bridge, and the Campanile Tower. More than 4,000 food items were used in the winning creation. The team winner of the competition was determined based on the most creative art. A second winner was announced as well, the team that collected the most food items, and that honor went to Gaming Operations, which brought in more than 10,000 items - one-third of the total count.

Judges for the competition included Senior Vice President of Development Michael Lentz, Vice President of Global Sustainability Katarina Tesarova, and Three Square Food Bank's COO Dan Williams.
