Ironside Bar & Galley - a comfortable sports bar that will be a true neighborhood spot without pretension in River North complete with value-driven, scratch-made food and craft beverages - is slated to open in April at 546 North Wells Street in the former Cyrano's Farm Kitchen space.

Ironside owner-operator Jon Mossberger and his business partner in the project, Steve Mayer, also own and operate Flagship Tavern & Grill in Lakeview and The Stretch in Wrigleyville. Scott Horwitch - former general manager of The Underground in River North and Faith & Whiskey in Lincoln Park - is a partner in the Ironside project as well. Jim August - executive chef at Flagship and Cortland's Garage in Bucktown - will helm the Ironside kitchen, and his comfort food menu will feature multiple seafood dishes.

Ironside - whose name derives from the nickname of the U.S.S. Constitution "Old Ironsides" - will have the look and feel of a ship turned upside down. The interior design will be industrial -not boat or nautical themed. Beneath the main floor of Ironside there will be a smaller and more intimate basement bar area as well.

Ironside's focus first and foremost be a neighborhood sports bar and will not turn into a club at late night. Affordable craft cocktails, wines, and 20 craft draft beer taps highlight the bar program.
