Vox Dance Theatre Announces Oct 2012 Dance Showcase Series

Vox Dance Theatre, in association with the National Dance Education Organization's October 2012 Conference, and the City of Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs, will host four evening showcases where established Los Angeles area dance artists (choreographers and/or dance companies) can showcase their work to conference attendees, as well as area presentors, grantors and the public.

Showcases will take place in one of three Los Angeles area theaters at very low cost:

Saturday October 20 - Madrid Theatre/Canoga Park
Sunday October 21 - Madrid Theatre/Canoga Park
Friday October 26 - LATC Tom Bradley Theater/Los Angeles (no hard shoe forms at this venue)
Saturday October 27 - Warner Grand Theatre/San Pedro

The series will be curated by Sarah Swenson, Artistic Director of Vox Dance Theatre, and a panel of established Los Angeles artists and presenters. Address all questions to Sarah Swenson at sarahvox@earthlink.net

Eligibility & Requirements: Applicants must be based in the southern California area and self-define as professional choreographers and/or companies. This series is open to all genres, however the LATC venue can not accomodate hard shoe forms such as folklorico or tap. Students are not eligible. Applications are by email, choreographic submissions are via URL. There is a $75 non-refundable application fee. Accepted artists will pay an additional $250 Technical Fee. 7-10 artists will be selected per date.

Vox Dance Theatre, The Dance Educators Organization, and Los Angeles Department of Cultural Affairs will promote the event through websites, social media sites, and publicity lists. Selected artists will be required to promote the Showcases as well.
