Trajal Harrell Performs Solo in New York Live Arts

Choreographer Trajal Harrell presents his dance solo The Return of La Argentina in Prime Time, a performance series presented as part of Mx'd Messages, New York Live Arts' 2017 Live Ideas festival. In his solo, Harrell invites audiences to a fictional archiving of Butoh co-founder Kazuo Ohno's renowned solo Admiring La Argentina as directed by Butoh's other founder Tatsumi Hijikata and dedicated to the famed Spanish dancer Antonia Mercé. The performance will be followed by a conversation with Harrell, Mx'd Messages festival curator Mx Justin VivIan Bond and Bill T. Jones.

The Return of La Argentina will be presented at Participant, Inc. on Wednesday, March 15, at 8:30pm. Tickets start at $15.

Live Ideas is an annual interdisciplinary humanities festival presented by New York Live Arts. For the 2017 edition, Mx'd Messages, trans-genre artist Mx Justin VivIan Bond curated a series examining the idea of a world without binaries. Past festivals have included The World of Oliver Sacks, James Baldwin, This Time!, S K Y - Force and Wisdom in America Today, curated by Laurie Anderson, and MENA/Future-Cultural Transformations in the Middle East and North Africa Region.
