The Joyce Theater Foundation, Inc. is proud to present two acclaimed companies who will make their Joyce debuts this spring: Liz Gerring Dance Company, from March 31 - April 2 with the New York premiere of the full evening-length work glacier; and tap sensation Michelle Dorrance's Dorrance Dance, April 4 and 5, with Toshi Reagon and BIGLovely in The Blues Project. Tickets for both companies range in price from $10 to $30 and can be purchased through JoyceCharge at www.Joyce.org, or by calling 212-242-0800. Please note: ticket prices are subject to change. The Joyce Theater is located at 175 Eighth Avenue at 19th Street.

Liz Gerring Dance Company's work glacier made its world premiere in 2013 to great critical and audience acclaim. The riveting evening-length work was noted for its clean and sharp aesthetic, expertly performed by Gerring's company of eight dancers. This well-deserved praise is the result of the choreographer's attention to detail when creating movement and the intense physicality of the work, which is performed to a nature-inspired score by acclaimed electronic music composer Michael Schumacher, whose "Glacier" originated during a summer stay near Colorado's Glacier Lake. An expansive set design by Tony-nominee Robert Wierzel sets the backdrop for the piece.

Michelle Dorrance, founder and artistic director of Dorrance Dance, has been recognized internationally for having unparalleled technique and a lovingly eccentric, humorous worldview. A 2013 Princess Grace Award Winner, 2012 Field Dance Fund Recipient and 2011 Bessie Award Winner, Dorrance makes her Joyce debut with The Blues Project, an extraordinary new work co-choreographed by (and co-starring) the astonishing tap artists Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards and Derick K. Grant, with a rousing blues-inspired score by singer/composer Toshi Reagon played live onstage by a jazz quintet. With her company and this new work, Dorrance illustrates why she is one of the most sought after tap dancers of her generation.
