(Marblehead, Massachusetts; April 14 2015) - The Marblehead School of Ballet (MSB) kicks off a weeklong celebration during National Dance Week from Friday, April 24 through Sunday, May 3. MSB presents an exclusive master class, An Afternoon of Baroque Dance, with Boston Early Music Festival choreographer and dancer Carlos Fittante on Sunday, May 3 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 115 Pleasant Street in Marblehead, Massachusetts. To thank the public for its support over the years, MSB is offering special coupons and discounts throughout the week to celebrate dance.

"I look forward to presenting another master class about Baroque dance, the predecessor of classical ballet, at the Marblehead School of Ballet for the community. A blend of ballroom and ballet skills, this dance highlights complex coordination and rhythmic sophistication. Students will enjoy exploring its dance movements of small turns, hopping jumps, beaten leg gestures and spiraling arm ornaments," said Carlos Fittante, a native of Salem, Massachusetts.

Fittante, a New York based choreographer and dancer specializing in Baroque, Balinese, and Spanish Escuela Bolera dances, is artistic director of BALAM Dance Theatre. Noted for his expressive physicality, he is co-choreographer and a featured dancer with the Boston Early Music Festival and will perform in its production of Claudio Monteverdi's Orfeo in June. He has appeared with several period music ensembles throughout the United States such Voices of Music and Apollo's Fire. A graduate of the School of American Ballet and Empire State College, Fittante has taught mask work at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York and currently teaches dance at Queens College in New York City.

The enrollment fee is $25. Students should have some dance experience. For information and to register, call 781-631-6262 or send an e-mail to msb@havetodance.com.
