For their final mainstage presentation of the season, DANCEMAKERS presents a rotating triple bill of groundbreaking new works, CAPITALISM, SEX, AND MAGIC, featuring internationally renowned artist Keith Hennessy, local pioneer Eroca Nicols (a.k.a. Lady Janitor), and Montreal avant-garde artist Andrew Tay, on May 6 to 9, 2015.

Keith Hennessy's BEAR/SKIN explores modernism's appropriation of indigenous culture, rituals and shamanism revealed through the use of the important indigenous symbol of bear, and Nijinsky's famous choreography from The Rite of Spring.

Eroca Nicols (a.k.a. Lady Janitor) presents the World Premiere of her solo work, ...TRUTHTELLER.... Through this brave performance, she faces deep-rooted fears, total concentration, and an exploration of the past, present and future. ...TRUTHTELLER... discovers and underlines the importance of truth, and truth telling.

SUMMONING AESTHETICS is created and performed by Andrew Tay, in collaboration with Francois Lalumiere. This unique performance attempts the impossible: summoning spirits, magic and nothingness into the surrounding space using rituals and spiritual practice, and transforming pop culture and superficiality into sacred art.

Keith Hennessy is an award-winning performer and choreographer. He is also the founder of Circo Zero, a laboratory for live performance. Hennessy has been honoured with the United States Artist Kjenner Fellowship, a Bilinski Fellowship, two Isadora Duncan Awards, a Goldie, and the Alpert/MacDowell Fellowship in Dance. Past works include solo performances: A Queer Anniversary, Saliva, Crotch (all the Joseph Beuys references in the world...), and How to Die.

Eroca Nicols is a Toronto-based dance artist, curator and educator. Her company Lady Janitor has presented work in Canada, Europe and the UK. Nicols' commitment to community-based arts engagement enables her to present the work of fellow emerging artists; this includes The Toronto Dance Community Love-In, DIMBY (Dance in my BackYard) and Badass Dance Fun (a mini festival at Toronto's Harbourfront Centre).

Andrew Tay has presented his work at venues and festivals throughout Canada, New York and Europe. His work has appeared in films, installations, and multimedia projects for Moment Factory, Bravo! and Dpt. In 2005 Andrew co-founded Wants&Needs Dance (with collaborator Sasha Kleinplatz), and produced the popular dance events Piss in the Pool, Short&Sweet, and Involved Montreal. In June 2012, the duo choreographed Les Frontieres de Pixels for Cirque du Soleil, and were nominated for a Quebec Notables award in the Arts & Culture category.

Dancemakers Centre For Creation is opening its doors to a multiplicity of new artistic perspectives and activities as a place for artists to develop their practices and for audiences to engage with dance on a deeper level. Working with a new wave of artists who deconstruct established dance codes and conventions, Dancemakers Centre For Creation will challenge the expectations artists and audiences place on dance, and the ways in which they create and experience it.
