Celebrity Series of Boston to Host Calls for Le Grand Continental, 2/2-4

Celebrity Series of Boston is holding its first calls this weekend for Le Grand Continental, the most infectious, contemporary, community line dance ever imagined. Following on the success of Street Pianos Boston, Celebrity Series is looking for 150+ people of all ages to help them cap their 75th anniversary celebration with Le Grand Continental-a weekend of community dance performance that will be held May 16-18 in Copley Square Park.

When: Sunday, February 2 1 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Sunday, February 2 2:30 P.M. to 4 P.M.
Sunday, February 2 4 P.M. to 2:30 P.M.
Monday, February 3 7:30 P.M. to 9 P.M.
Tuesday, February 4 7:30 P.M. to 9 P.M.

Attendees of each call session will meet Montreal-based choreographer Sylvain Émard, learn more about the project, and start to learn the dance. No experience is needed!

Le Grand Continental was first created by Montreal-based choreographer Sylvain Émard and premiered in 2009 with 60 dancers at Montreal's Festival TransAmériques. Since then, the dance has been staged in Mexico, New York City, Philadelphia and Portland, Oregon, many with well over 150 dancers.

Celebrity Series of Boston was founded in 1938 by pianist and impresario Aaron Richmond. Over the course of its 75-year history, Celebrity Series has presented an array of the world's greatest performing artists, including Sergei Rachmaninoff, Arturo Toscanini, Ignace Paderewski, Artur Rubenstein, Vladimir Horowitz, Glenn Gould, Fritz Kreisler, Jascha Heifetz, Isaac Stern, Andrés Segovia, Kirsten Flagstad, Marian Anderson, Luciano Pavarotti, Béla Bartók, Igor Stravinsky, Martha Graham, Ballet Russe De Monte Carlo, Mikhail Baryshnikov, Mstislav Rostropovich, and the New York City Opera Company.
