"It is with great sorrow that I learn about the passing of Frank Macchiarola. Frank was a great Brooklynite, proud Italian-American, a friend, and a mentor. I valued his guidance and advice when I served on the NYC Charter Review Commission. New York is a better place thanks to Frank's hard work and dedication. His commitment to education - as New York City Public Schools Chancellor and at places such as St. Francis College, Yeshiva University's Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law, Columbia University's Graduate School of Business, and City University of New York - will forever be felt in this city. The Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce would like to convey its deepest sympathies to Frank's family at this time, and in particular to his wife Mary and three sons, as we mourn his passing. He will be greatly missed."
