Tony and Emmy Award winner Tyne Daly, Tony Award winner Harriet Harris, Sierra Boggess and Lisa Howard head an outstanding cast in It Shoulda Been You, the hilarious and heartwarming new musical comedy that proves when it comes to wedding day insanity, everything is relative. It Shoulda Been You, which had a sold-out premiere at New Jersey's George Street Playhouse, officially opens tonight, April 14, 2015 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. It Shoulda Been You, a new musical comedy directed by David Hyde Pierce in his Broadway directorial debut, features an original book & lyrics by Brian Hargrove and music by Barbara Anselmi. It Shoulda Been You puts a refreshingly modern spin on the traditional wedding comedy, proving that when it comes to wedding day insanity, it's all relative.

In the hilarious and heartwarming new musical It Shoulda Been You, it's a culture clash for the ages when two families from wildly different backgrounds come together to celebrate a wedding. As if the union wasn't complicated enough, the bride's ex-boyfriend arrives, bringing the wedding to a screeching halt and throwing both families into hysterical chaos. Plots are hatched, promises broken, secrets exposed -- and the bride's resourceful sister is left to turn an unmitigated disaster into happily ever after.

Mother of the Bride

Tyne Daly has been a professional actress since 1963. She is delighted to be back on Broadway after most recently creating the role of Katharine Gerard in Terrence McNally's 20th Broadway production,Mothers and Sons, for which she was nominated for a Tony Award and an Outer Critics Circle Award. She holds the record for the most Emmys won by a dramatic actress with six Emmys for her work on "Judging Amy," "Christy," and "Cagney and Lacey." Among her many other honors she has won include the Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her performance as Madame Rose in GYPSY, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and in 2011 she was inducted into the American Theater Hall of Fame.

Any successful wedding requires something old and something new. The prospect of walking down the aisle with old friends in an original Broadway musical is irresistible to me. Perhaps, the something borrowed and something blue had best be sorted out in rehearsal. Sierra Boggess recently finished a limited run in The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. Other Broadway credits include the 25th-anniversary engagement in The Phantom of the Opera, the revival of Master Class and The Little Mermaid(Drama Desk and Drama League nominations). Her London credits include LES MISERABLES, the 25th-anniversary concerts of The Phantom of the Opera at Royal Albert Hall and Love Never Dies (Olivier Award nomination). Other New York theater credits include Guys & Dolls at Carnegie Hall opposite Nathan Lane, Patrick Wilson and Megan Mullally; Love, Loss, and What I Wore (Off-Broadway; final cast); and Encores! production of Music in the Air. Regionally, she has been seen in Princesses (Goodspeed and 5th Avenue Theatre), and LES MISERABLES (national tour). Her recordings include the 25th-anniversary concert of The Phantom of the Opera (also on DVD), the symphonic recording of Love Never Dies, The Little Mermaid and Andrew Lippa's A Little Princess. Concert appearances include the BBC Proms at Royal Albert Hall, Lincoln Center's American Songbook series The Lyrics of David Zippel, The New York Pops at Lincoln Center, and Broadway by the Year at Town Hall. Sister of the Bride

Lisa Howard has appeared on Broadway as Diva 1 in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert, Missy Hart in 9 to 5 the musical, Head Nurse in Lincoln Center's revival of South Pacific and as Rona Lisa Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, for which she won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Ensemble Performance. She toured the US in the national company of LES MISERABLES, where she played many performances as "Madame Thénardier", and has played leading roles regionally at Pittsburgh CLO, St. Louis MUNY, Olney Theater Center, Human Race Theater and Kansas City Starlight. Lisa made her feature film debut as Siobahn in "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2" and has also been seen on television in "Ugly Betty." Her debut solo CD, "Songs of Innocence and Experience" is available on iTunes. Lisa is a graduate of the Cincinnati College Conservatory of Music.

DAVID BURTKA

Groom

David Burtka last appeared on Broadway as Tulsa in Sam Mendes' production of Gypsy, for which he was nominated for a Fred Astaire Award. His role as The Boy in the American premiere of Edward Albee's The Play About the Baby earned him the Clarence Derwent Award. Other New York appearances include the Broadway production of Edward Albee's The Goat or Who is Sylvia and the Off-Broadway productions of Beautiful Thing and Bad Boy Johnny. Burtka starred in the World Premiere of the musical The Opposite of Sex in San Francisco, later reprising his role at The Williamstown Theatre Festival. He has appeared regionally at The Hollywood Bowl, Alley Theatre, Paper Mill Playhouse, North Shore Music Theatre, and the Weston Playhouse. His film credits include Dance-Off, Annie and the Gypsy, Regrets Only, A Very Harold & Kumar 3D Christmas and Hollywood Ending, under the direction of Woody Allen. Known to television audiences for his recurring role on How I Met Your Mother, Burtka appears in the current season of American Horror Story: Freak Show. He earned a BFA from the University of Michigan and studied at the William Esper Studios in New York. David's one man show Burtka, David played a sold-out engagement in November 2014 at 54 Below. A trained chef, Burtka is a graduate of Le Cordon Bleu and has worked with Mario Batali. He resides in Manhattan with his husband Neil Patrick Harris and their twin children, Harper and Gideon.

Award-winning actress Montego Glover originated the starring role of Felicia Farrell on Broadway in Memphis (Tony Award, Best Musical 2010) for which she received a Tony Award Nomination for Lead Actress in a Musical, a Drama League Nomination and won both the Outer Critics Circle Award and Drama Desk Award for her performance. Ms. Glover made her Broadway debut in The Color Purple and has performed at the Old Globe Theatre, La Jolla Playhouse, Seattle's 5th Ave Theatre, Huntington Theater and the Geffen Playhouse among others. Concert work includes the New York Pops, Jazz at Lincoln Center, Lincoln Center Theater, Philadelphia Symphony Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra, Caramoor Music Festival, the Delacorte Theatre and the Smith Center (PBS Special). Television and film roles include FBI Agent Lawrence on FOX's The Following; ABC's Black Box, Hostages, Smash, Golden Boy, The Good Wife, White Collar, NYC 22, Law & Order, Made In Jersey and the upcoming feature Alone. Chip Zien created the central role of the Baker in Sondheim/Lapine's award-winning INTO THE WOODS and also created the role of Mendel in William Finn's highly acclaimed FALSETTOS. Most recently he was seen on B'way in THE BIG KNIFE directed by Douglas Hughes, The Roundabout's THE PEOPLE IN THE PICTURE, THE COUNTRY GIRL directed by Mike Nichols and as Thenardier in the revival of LES MISERABLES. He appeared in Tommy Tune's GRAND HOTEL playing Otto Kringelein, the memorable dancing bookkeeper. Other Broadway credits include, THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE, CHITTY CHITTY BANG BANG, ALL OVER TOWN directed by Dustin Hoffman and THE SUICIDE with Derek Jacobi. Mr. Zien also starred in the La Jolla reworking of MERRILY WE ROLL ALONG. On TV, Mr. Zien is currently filming CRIME, a new HBO series and was a regular on THE CAROLINE RHEA SHOW, ALMOST PERFECT (CBS), NOW AND AGAIN (CBS), DEADLINE (NBC), SHELL GAME (CBS) and LOVE, SIDNEY (NBC). Mr. Zien has recently turned his attention to writing. His new musical, THE HISTORY OF WAR was selected and presented at The New York Musical Theater Festival (NYMF). His one-man show DEATH IN ASHTABULA and a musical revue TRAVELS WITH MY DISCONTENT, showcasing the music of Deborah Abramson, were both developed and performed at The Barrington Stage.
