Brisbane string fans will be pleased to note internationally acclaimed British violinist Jack Liebeck will return to the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) as guest performer in the first concert of the Southern Cross Soloists' 2016 season, Forbidden Love, on Sunday 20 March 2016.

Southern Cross Soloists' creative director Tania Frazer believes the reintroduction of Liebeck's talent into the ensemble's 2016 season will enamour audiences once again.

"We are delighted to again collaborate with the extremely talented Jack Liebeck who was an audience favourite when we presented concerts with him in 2012," Ms Frazer said.

"A story of romance and longing, Forbidden Love is a soulful, bitter-sweet, and somewhat dreamy performance set to pluck at your heart strings as it showcases works by Mahler, Sibelius, Chausson, Saint-Saëns and more," she said.

Jack Liebeck is a highly sought after chamber musician. His collaborations have included performances with Lynn Harrell, Angela Hewitt, Piers Lane and Jean-Yves Thibaudet amongst many others.

He has appeared at major festivals including Bath, City of London, Cheltenham, Harrogate, Belfast, Aldeburgh Summer Proms, Kuhmo, Montpellier, Montreux, Reims, Spoleto, Stockholm and the Australian Festival of Chamber Music.

Jack is also featured as soloist on the film scores of Jane Eyre (2011) and the 2013 Oscar, Golden Globe and BAFTA Nominated soundtrack for Anna Karenina (released 2012).

In 2014, he joined physicist Professor Brian Cox on QPAC's Concert Hall stage in Journey Through the Cosmos where he performed Dario Marianelli's specially commissioned Voyager Violin Concerto with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra under Conductor Johannes Fritzsch.

Professor of Violin at the Royal Academy of Music, Jack is also the Artistic Director of Oxford May Music Festival, a festival of Music, Science and Arts.

Jack plays the 'Ex-Wilhelmj' J.B. Guadagnini violin dated 1785.
