The theme of last night's opening night of the Democratic National Convention in Philadelphia was "United Together," so it was only natural that legendary singer Paul Simon performed the unifying song, "Bridge Over Troubled Water," before the gleeful crowd.

The performance took place towards the end of the evening, just as Al Franken and Sarah Silverman took the stageto urge party unity. Silverman, a vocal Bernie Sanders supporter, even slammed the "Bernie or Bust" movement, telling its followers, "You're being ridiculous!"

Other speakers who appeared on stage included  New Jersey Senator Cory Booker, First Lady Michelle Obama, Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren.

Simon recently wrapped up his tour supporting his latest album, Stranger to Stranger. Watch the performance below!
