The Robert and Margrit Mondavi Center for the Performing Arts, UC Davis is pleased to announce three Just Added performances in Jackson Hall: comedian Steven Wright, on Thursday, September 17 at 8 p.m.; comedian Patton Oswalt on Friday, October 16 at 8 p.m.; and Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings on Friday, October 30 at 8 p.m.
Best known for his deadpan delivery and wry observational humor, comedian Steven Wright has built a career that includes acting, writing, producing, an Academy Award for his short film The Appointments of Dennis Jennings and serving as an advisor on Louis C.K.'s Louis. Wright got his break on The Tonight Show in 1982, and has continued to elevate and refine his stand-up since then. His performances are masterclasses in the art form, a laconic barrage of masterfully written and paced one-liners that show the influence of Woody Allen and George Carlin on his work. As his more than two million Twitter followers know, Patton Oswalt is a cultural omnivore, equally versed in Star Wars lore and social issues. On stage, Oswalt dexterously combines a propulsive storytelling genius with ribald, infectious humor. His accomplishments are equally diverse: the author of The New York Times bestseller Zombie Spaceship Wasteland, Oswalt also put together the Comedians of Comedy tour and television series. Oswalt has also appeared on many television shows and in more than twenty films, including a starring role as Remy in Ratatouille.Videos
