Steve Silver Foundation & 'Beach Blanket Babylon' Announce 2016 'Scholarship for the Arts” Finalists

Jo Schuman Silver, Producer of Steve Silver's Beach Blanket Babylon, announced today the nine Bay Area high school seniors selected as finalists for the Steve Silver Foundation and Beach Blanket Babylon "Scholarship for the Arts." Each of the finalists will perform live in front of family, friends and a panel of celebrity judges on Monday, June 6. One winner in each category will be presented with a check for $15,000 towards their college education. The nine high school seniors who will perform are:

ACTING
DANIEL CAMOU - Saint Ignatius College Preparatory, San Francisco
JERMAINE HARRIS - California Connections Academy, Ripon
SIERRA STEPHENS - Sir Francis Drake High School, San Anselmo

DANCING
GRACE DONG - Mission San Jose High School, Fremont
VRINDHA GIRITHARAN - Mountain View High School, Mountain View
MARI KOJIMA - San Mateo High School, San Mateo

SINGING
STEPHEN CANEPA - Monte Vista High School, Danville
CATE HAYMAN - Tamalpais High School, Mill Valley
ALEXI ISHIDA - C.K. McClatchy High School, Sacramento

"The caliber of talent and passion showcased in each entry made it extremely difficult to narrow it down to just 9 finalists," said Schuman Silver. "The quality of the performances and the dedication of these students to their craft will ensure their future success in the arts."

The celebrity panel of judges scheduled to appear include: choreographer Val Caniparoli, Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter Tracy Chapman, KGO Radio's Brian Copeland, American political satirist Will Durst, composer Gordon Getty, SFJAZZ Center's Founder and Executive Artistic Director Randall Kline, Yerba Buena Center for the Arts' Chief of Civic Engagement Jonathan Moscone, KMEL's Lady Ray, KCBS AM & FM's Jan Wahl, and jazz and cabaret singer Paula West. Master of Ceremonies for the evening is radio legend, Don Bleu.
