As part of David Letterman's send-off from THE LATE SHOW, Ray Romano will be hosting a special tribute show airing on CBS on May 4th. The tribute will feature classic clips from Letterman's extensive career, including his best Top Ten Lists, Stupid Human Tricks, and iconic guest interviews.

"A lot of people have been affected by Dave, but I don't think anyone in show business more than me," Romano told Entertainment Tonight. "I don't think a lot of the public knows that he was the reason that I had a sitcom. After 11 years of standup, I got my first Letterman spot. After that spot, he signed me to a deal to develop a show. That show was Everybody Loves Raymond."

Letterman's final show will air on May 20th. Stephen Colbert, long-time host of Comedy Central's THE COLBERT REPORT, will take his place. In the final weeks leading up to his departure, he will feature an incredible array of guests including Bill Murray, Will Ferrell, Tina Fey, Jack Hanna, Scarlett Johansson, Michael Keaton, Steve Martin, Don Rickles and Martin Short.

Ending his 33 year run on THE LATE SHOW will be no easy task, but Letterman will try to make his farewell both unique and memorable.

"I did ask him if he was going to take any cues from Johnny Carson, which was very memorable because it was just Johnny sitting on a stool essentially talking to his audience," The New York Times' Dave Itzkoff said. "Letterman said that he doesn't want to copy that."
