"I Catch You Dreaming," Rafael Albarrán's romantic fantasia about artists of different ethnicities coming of age in New York, receives its world premiere at the Flamboyán Theater, 107 Suffolk Street, beginning Thursday March 5. Directed by Gama Valle, the world premiere of "I Catch You Dreaming" is produced by Mariana Ortiz and Albarrán's Oomph Theater Productions, a pan-ethnic company devoted to challenging artists and audiences to celebrate our differences, not hide behind them.

The show's three-week engagement plays through Sunday March 22, with an opening set for Sunday March 8 at 3pm. Tickets are now on sale through www.eventbrite.com

In "I Catch You Dreaming" two young dreamers from the Caribbean, Dennis and Amanda, find their way to New York, leaving behind love, safety and privilege. What they discover in New York is a dizzying swirl of gentrification, discrimination and sexual entitlement that threatens to puncture the hopes of one, and fuel the passions of the other. For both the realities of life in the naked city of today will open their eyes.

Oomph Theater Productions includes a number of theater artists who, like Valle and Albarrán, are recent masters degree recipients from such schools as The New School for Drama, Columbia University, and Brooklyn College. The cast includes Albarrán, Velson D'Souza, John Paul Harkins, Aaron Pfeiffer, Annabel Lalonde, Serena Miller, and Amanda Ríos Nieves. The production design team includes Angélica Borrero (set design); Aris Mejías (costumes); Aleksey Nuzhnov (projections); Pamela López (lighting); Disanto Díaz (sound), and Franceliz Trishkina (props). The show's original score includes music by Daniel Ajl Kitrosser, 5J Barrow, and Aaron Pfeiffer. Luis E. Santiago is the production stage manager.

Oomph Theater brings together artists from different backgrounds and ethnicities to create works that challenge how we see and relate to each other.

"I Catch You Dreaming" performs from Thursday March 5 through Sunday March 22 at the Flamboyán Theater, at the Clemente Soto Vélez Cultural and Educational Center, 107 Suffolk Street (between Rivington and Delancey Street). Performances (a total of 14) are Wednesday through Sat at 8pm and Sun at 3pm. There is some nudity in the production. Tickets, which are $18 and $27.50, are now on sale and can be purchased in advance visiting www.eventbrite.com
