Jimmy Kimmel Will Not Air New Show Opposite LETTERMAN Finale: 'I Have Too Much Respect for Dave'

In an email to the New York Times, late night host Jimmy KImmel revealed that he will not air a new show on the night of May 20th, in tribute to his idol David Letterman, who signs off the air that evening as host of CBS's THE LATE SHOW. Instead viewers who tune in to ABC for 11:35 pm time slot will see a repeat of Jimmy Kimmel Live.

"I have too much respect for Dave to do anything that would distract viewers from watching his final show," Kimmel said in the email. "Plus, I'll probably be crying all day, which makes it hard to work."

THR reports that a rep for Kimmel confirmed the news, while reps for NBC's Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and TBS' CONAN revealed that new episodes of their respective shows will air the night of May 20th.
