Comedians Samson Koletkar and Edwin Li Bring Their Show 'The Minorities Stand-Up' to Punch Line San Francisco 2/26

Samson Koletkar, a first generation Indian Jewish immigrant, and Edwin Li, a second generation Chinese American, take shots at current events and the absurdities that they experience in America.

Edwin Li approaches comedy through stories from his perspective as a native San Franciscan. Focusing on dilemmas of identity and growing up, Li wonders how a nerd grows up to be a man, and how identity is forged in a climate where Linsanity and entertainment figures take center stage over hardworking school kids. Li's currently mining these issues in his latest Independent film, funded by San Francisco's Purple Onion Comedy Club, where he plays a "fictional" character: A nerd comedian trying to become a man.

As a first-generation immigrant to San Francisco, Samson Koletkar's acerbic wit doesn't pull punches. His targets include Americans that can't fathom his English speaking abilities, Americans who don't believe an Indian can be Jewish, and the tenets of the Jewish faith itself. Driven by personal trials and tribulations, his socially aware comedy highlights religious hypocrisies, social issues, and day-to-day ludicrousness of human nature. His humor ranges from a cultural critique of irresponsible Indian parents with irresponsible Indian kids acting irresponsibly in public places, to the advantages of speaking with an Indian accent in the US.

The Minorities Stand-Up is created by the world's only Indian Jewish comedian Samson Koletkar, whose weekly showcase Comedy Off Broadway Oakland was named one of the "Top Ten Theatrics for 2012." His first show "Mahatma Moses Comedy Tour" performed 17 shows in 10 cities across the U.S. Samson has performed in India, Canada and 12 U.S. states & has been featured on NBC, CBS and NPR. Edwin Li has performed at SF SketchFest, Las Vegas Comedy Festival and has also been featured in the independent films Chinese Connection, Slap Stick and Come Back To Me.

In 2012 The Minorities Stand-Up ran monthly at the smaller Stage Werx theater in San Francisco. Joining Samson and Edwin at the Punch Line show is Kevin Munroe, a Carribbean comedian and winner of 2010 Walk The Plank Competition and 2012 Beat The Heat Competition. Also joining them on the show is host Natasha Muse, voted 2012 SF Weekly's Best Tranny Comedienne she is also the 2010 Battle of the Bay competition winner and Miss Toolbox 2011.
