Las Vegas's most charming comedienne, the incomparable Rita Rudner will headline at The Ridgefield Playhouse on Friday, August 23, at 8 p.m. She has earned Las Vegas Review-Journal's "Best Comedian in Las Vegas" title for the last eight years playing to sold-out audiences night after night. With a list of credentials that includes HBO, PBS and Carnegie Hall in addition to her sold-out shows in Las Vegas, Rita is a must-see. Special guest is comedienne Christine O'Leary who has become a regular at The Playhouse both as a solo act and collaborating with other celebrities. Bissell House (Main St., Ridgefield) is offering Rudner fans a free glass of house wine or draft beer when tickets/stubs are presented the night of this event. Because the folks at Clark Construction Company believe in the power of laughter, this show is part of the Clark Construction Comedy Series and is partially underwritten by Adam Broderick Salon & Spa of Ridgefield and Southbury.

Rita Rudner's One Night Stand, her first solo HBO special, was nominated for several awards, as were her English BBC/A&E television shows. Born to Be Mild and Married Without Children, were among her other HBO hits. Rudner performs at The Venetian in Las Vegas, where over the course of more than 2000 shows in more than a decade, she has sold upwards of one million tickets and become the longest-running solo show in the history of Las Vegas. Named Comedian of The Year nine years in a row, Rita Rudner has received The Nevada Ballet's Woman of The Year Award (2006) in the impressive company of other recipients Bette Midler, Céline Dion, Chita Rivera and Twyla Tharp.

Besides her impressive ability to stand up to audiences and make them laugh, author Rita Rudner has penned two novels, Tickled Pink andTurning the Tables, and her non-fiction titles Naked Beneath My Clothes and Rita Rudner's Guide to Men have been best-sellers. Her latest work is a book of essays, I Still Have It...I Just Can't Remember Where I Put It. Is she funny, or what?
