Glamour, sizzling songs and colourful characters will be on offer at Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC) with Cabaret @ The Cremorne from 11 to 20 June 2015.

Presented in association with Queensland Cabaret Festival, Cabaret @ The Cremorne features a stunning line-up of local Brisbane cabaret artists in a series of brand new cabaret shows. In the spotlight will be some familiar faces as well as new stars on the rise.

QPAC Director Presenter Services, Ross Cunningham said cabaret is having resurgence in popularity.

"As an art form Cabaret has enduring appeal, part of which is the short length performances in intimate spaces where the audiences have the chance to get to know the performers and fit in fun and quality live entertainment within their busy lives.

"To create a program featuring the best in performance by local cabaret artists, QPAC has engaged one of the founders of the Brisbane and Queensland Cabaret Festivals and acclaimed Queensland cabaret singer, Alison St Ledger as guest curator. The seven performance series features talented local artists and perhaps will even reveal some cabaret stars in the making at the Open Mic Night.

"We invite audiences to experience our Cremorne theatre's transformation to true cabaret room style and enjoy the variety and vivacity on offer every night. With everything from a tribute to a Rock legend, and social satire to European cabaret songs and a mix tape based on a blockbuster Hollywood film; there is something to appeal to all tastes in this unique series," said Mr Cunningham.

Cabaret @ The Cremorne kicks off on Thursday 11 June with I Might Take My Shirt Off; a 60-minute one-man character-driven show of a man hilariously stumbling his way through his first time ever on stage. From the mischievous mind of one of Queensland's favourite actors, Dash Kruck (A Tribute of Sorts, Jesus Christ Superstar, [Title of Show], Spring Awakening) and with original music by Chris Perren (Nonsemble, Trollop) this show promises an evening of cabaret not soon forgotten.

Annie Lee's Barefoot Cabaret on Friday 12 June is a showcase of European cabaret from the 30s, 40s and 50s by accomplished actor and superb singer Annie Lee.

Accompanied by the sensational Sallie Campbell on piano, Annie Lee's Barefoot Cabaret features the works of Bertolt Brecht and Kurt Weill, as well as selections from Annie's own original solo cabaret shows. Settle in for an hour of stirring high class entertainment with two of Queensland's best loved artists.

Real Women, on Saturday 13 June is a new comedy musical by Matthew Samer and Jacqueline Ozorio laced with real life quotes and stories. It's about the way our minds and bodies are shaped, and how that affects our relationships to each other and to ourselves. There might not be a one-size-fits-all solution, but rather the comfort of knowing that no matter how bad things get, we are not alone.

Open Mic Night, on Wednesday 17 June is hosted by Queensland's 'Queen of Cabaret' Alison St Ledger and is sure to be a fire cracker of a night. Emerging artists and established cabaret performers will pull out their party pieces and try daring new acts, and audiences can expect the unexpected and discover the undiscovered as a procession of cabaret stars step up to the mic and strut their stuff. Please go to Cabaret @ The Cremorne page on qpac.com.au to find out how you can get involved.

Songs for Sarah Connor: A Love Story Terminated on Thursday 18 June is inspired by the blockbuster Hollywood film franchise and is a 'mix tape' cabaret show. Using existing songs from the Gershwin brothers and Patsy Cline to Radiohead it re-imagines the iconic characters made famous by over 30 years of Terminator films, TV shows and pop culture. Written and performed by Alastair Tomkins this left field love sonnet with a cabaret heart on will leave you sure to say... 'I'll be back'.

Team Austraya on Friday 19 June is a double bill featuring Franky Walnut (the alter ego of pop singer/songwriter turned comedian Keir Nuttal) and 'bogan' philosopher Cliffy (Greg Bird's award-winning comedy character). For a pants-splitting night of homegrown humour, silly songs and social satire, join Franky and Cliffy as they pay tribute to this unique Australian sub culture.

Transformer - The Album - In Concert on Saturday 20 June is the final show in the series. Get set as five acclaimed Brisbane vocalists, led by musical director James Lees come together to honour the late legendary solo artist, Lou Reed, who was recently inducted to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Backed by a rockin' ensemble of local musicians, this celebration of the 44th greatest album of all time, Transformer will be a guaranteed highlight of Cabaret @ The Cremorne and will have you 'walking on the wild side!'

Cabaret @ The Cremorne is a great option for a fun night out this winter in Brisbane. Gather your friends and enjoy an exhilarating world of cabaret that will take you from the sublime to the ridiculous and back again!
