The Brave New Workshop Comedy Theatre (BNW) has announced a new event in their ETC Event Space, the "Promiscuous Hostility Standup Showcase." The Standup Showcase will take place on Thursday, January 22 at 8pm in the ETC Event Space at 824 Hennepin Avenue, Downtown Minneapolis. Tickets for the "Promiscuous Hostility Standup Showcase" will be available at the door.

"The Brave New Workshop is all about the art of laughter. We are adding standup performances to our schedule to give people more opportunities to laugh, and because stand up is a part of our history," says BNW president Earl Mollerud. The Brave New Workshop has previously hosted comedians like Louie Anderson and duo Penn and Teller. "Back when the ETC was on the West Bank, we featured up-and-coming talent, and we're excited to do that again."

The name of the showcase is derived from BNW founder Dudley Riggs' motto, "Promiscuous Hostility, Positive Neutrality." Riggs developed this motto as a way to indicate to audiences that everything is fair game for skewering (promiscuous hostility), and that the satirical point of view of the theatre's work doesn't play favorites (positive neutrality).

The "Promiscuous Hostility Standup Showcase" will feature Minneapolis comedian Chris Maddock, recently voted "Best Standup" by City Pages in 2014. Other comedians are yet to be determined.
