A Utah Symphony brass sextet will herald opening day of the 2015 Utah Legislative Session on Monday, January 26, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. with a special performance on the Senate Chambers Floor at Utah State Capitol. The sextet-Travis Peterson (trumpet), Jeff Luke (trumpet), Nick Norton (trumpet), Llew Humphreys (horn), Mark Davidson (trombone) and Graeme Mutchler (trombone)-will play "The Star Spangled Banner" and another short musical selection.

"We were thrilled to be invited by Senator Margaret Dayton to open the 2015 Legislative Session and also feel privileged to receive such accolades from the State Legislature regarding our tour of Utah's Mighty 5® National Parks last summer," said Utah Symphony | Utah Opera President and CEO Melia Tourangeau. "The tour would not have been possible without the tremendous support of the Utah State Legislature. We thank Representative Stewart Barlow for championing our efforts last year for this support. We are fortunate to have our State Government behind us as an organization and are grateful for their value in what we do for the people of Utah."

Additionally, USUO will be presented with an Honorary Citation during the Utah Legislative session on Friday, Jan. 30, 2015, at 10:00 a.m. on the Senate Chambers Floor at Utah State Capitol. Highlights of the resolution will include the Utah Symphony's 75th Anniversary and the Mighty 5® Tour through five of Utah's National Parks in August 2014.
