Get ready to stomp your feet to the beat as DRUMLine Live! blasts onto Dayton's Benjamin and Marion Schuster Performing Arts Center stage, Wednesday, November 10th, 2010 at 7:30 PM.
Inspired by the 2002 hit movie, Drumline, starring Nice Cannon and Orlando Jones, musical director Don P. Roberts brings to the stage a wonderful combination of choreography, athletic feats and, of course, a spectacular drumline. The cast consists of approximately 40 college age performers selected from numerous highly distinguished band programs from Historically Black Colleges and Universities all over the country. This group of energetic entertainers brings back the sounds of the past, including Earth Wind and Fire and Tower of Power along with the latest contemporary hip-hop and R&B of the decade.Even though Roberts credits the 2002 movie for being his inspiration for this show, he promises DRUMLine Live! will take this tale to a whole new level of intensity and excitement."It's the rare show that can bring together the generation that relates to the Jackson Five or JAmes Brown, with their kids or grandkids who listen to top 40," states Roberts. "It is also the type of show that people will want to see over and over again. Each time they see it, it will have a different musical and emotional effect. Most importantly, it will expose the world to one of the most electrifying, dynamic, sensational, and best-kept secrets in the history of American music culture."
