NY PHIL Off The Grid, the series of chamber music parties hosted by Musicians from the New York Philharmonic performing in unexpected locations throughout New York City, continues with the third and final pop-up of the season on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, at 7:15 p.m. Off The Grid - Vol. 6 is inspired by the upcoming subscription concerts, May 19-20 and 23, that feature the New York Premieres of Kravis Emerging Composer Anna Thorvaldsdottir's Aeriality and The Marie-Josée Kravis Composer-in-Residence Esa-Pekka Salonen's Wing on Wing, with sopranos Anu and Piia Komsi, as well as The Mary and James G. Wallach Artist-in-Residence Leonidas Kavakos as soloist in Brahms's Violin Concerto. The event will be held at a location near the L subway line on the border of Williamsburg and Bushwick in Brooklyn; as with past NY PHIL Off The Grid events, the exact location will remain a secret until shortly before the day of the event.

In a second event inspired by the same program, the New York Philharmonic will host POLARIS Concert & After-Party, which features a full subscription concert by the Orchestra followed by an after-party on the Grand Promenade of David Geffen Hall with drinks, appetizers, and a D.J., Saturday, May 20, 2017, at 8:00 p.m.

NY PHIL Off The Grid is a series of chamber music parties inspired by upcoming Philharmonic concert programs that encourage interaction among the musicians and the audience; they take place in unique and intimate locations and feature music, food, and cocktails at an accessible price. This season the Philharmonic has offered two Off The Grid events. The first, presented at Pondicheri, featured music, food, and specialty cocktails inspired by Ravi Shankar's R?g?-M?l?, Concerto No. 2 for Sitar and Orchestra. The second was held at The Bell House with a Russian theme inspired by Beloved Friend - Tchaikovsky and His World: A Philharmonic Festival. Off The Grid was inaugurated in January 2016 at Baita, Eataly's Italian Alps pop-up restaurant, with an Italian theme inspired by Respighi's Roman Trilogy. Other Off The Grid events in the 2015-16 season took place at the Angel Orensanz Foundation - inspired by the Philharmonic's Spanish Nights program of works by Falla and Massenet - and Housing Works Bookstore Cafe, inspired by a program of works by Schumann, Mahler, and Sibelius.

Last season the Philharmonic also hosted two Concerts & After-Parties: WHEN IN ROME, held in the David Rubenstein Atrium in connection with a program including Respighi's Roman Trilogy, and WUNDERLAND, held on David Geffen Hall's Grand Promenade in connection with a program of music by Schumann, Sibelius, and Mahler.
