The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra and the Musicians Association of Hawaii have announced a two-year agreement that will run through June 30, 2016.

The agreement covers 84 musicians, who have performed between 10 and 40 years.

HSO director Jonathan Parrish said, "The musicians have been extremely helpful and flexible during our first two seasons. With the news that we are projecting to close the books this season with a balanced budget, and the soon-to-be announced third season, we hope this agreement demonstrates that the HSO is committed to building a sustainable organization and bringing the very best artists and symphonic performances to the state."

The Hawaii Symphony Orchestra - Hawaii's orchestra - is one of these Islands' most sparkling cultural treasures, a magnificent ensemble that ranks among our country's best symphony orchestras and has won the enthusiastic praise of the nationally and internationally renowned soloists and guest conductors who have performed with it.

The Musicians Association of Hawaii (MAH) represents professional musicians in the State of Hawaii and belongs to the greater family known as the American Federation of Musicians, uniting music professionals from all of the United States and Canada.

MAH serves musicians of all genres, from jazz to Jawaiian, to classical, pop, rock, indie and other contemporary styles. We represent musicians live in concert as well as in performances broadcast via radio, television and the Internet, and recorded on CDs, film and other media.

MAH helps musicians negotiate fair contracts, track down deadbeat employers, obtain affordable insurance for themselves and their instruments, and protect their interests in today's rapidly changing entertainment industry. Through collective bargaining we help secure better pay, better working conditions, job security, pension and disability benefits. Our organization is run by musicians for musicians.
