"Doctor" (published by Xlibris) and author William Henry Lewis lights up the literary world with a witty exposé of the many things - shocking and funny - that he encountered during his 40-year spell in the medical field.

"By observing so closely and so profoundly the humanity of others, I became more and more acquainted with my own. I am certain that many other physicians have had similar experiences and made similar observations. Perhaps the only difference between us is that I simply took the time and put forth the effort to write about them," Lewis shares.

"Doctor" is a chronicle of the many ordinary and the fewer extraordinary people encountered by the author himself during his 40 years of practice. It serves as a testament to the grace, poise and spirit manifested by so many in the midst of tragedies and triumphs, agonies and joys, and dying and living. Conversely, "Doctor" exposes some of the worst in some reprehensible characters who regrettably made careers of it.

Candidly written, this memoir lifts the lid in the life and times of one of the most challenging professions. Some of this narrative's parts are inspiring, some shocking, some very routine and some really funny but Lewis swears that all of them are true.
