When Victor J. Wright suffered a spinal cord injury during a high school football game in 1976, his life was changed forever. Wright, who passed away in 2016, was a quadriplegic; he pushed through with help from his faith, his family and his friends to become one of the first quadriplegics to earn a college degree. In "The Wright Stuff: A Story of Perseverance, Inspiration and Hope" (published by AuthorHouse), David D. Rutherford, one of Wright's former classmates and friends, shares Wright's incredible story of perseverance in the face of overwhelming adversity.

Wanting to share his story, Wright approached Rutherford in order "To share my life story and inspire others to persevere and to have faith and belief in God and Christianity."

In addition to pushing forward, earning a college degree and persevering despite his mother's death, Wright co-founded a non-profit organization that provides relief efforts to victims of natural disasters around the world. He also became an ordained minister and has made numerous donations to local libraries. Wright's legacy lives on at his alma mater as an inspiration to their football team. His story is one of courage, hope and dedication.

"In telling my story of my life's experiences and how they relate to other people, I'm just trying to share my thoughts and reactions about my experiences and relationships, not to be negative or to share the faults of other people," Wright said. "It just happens to be part of my story."
