Author Thomas Lupich expounds on the meaning and the blessings of the Eucharist in his book, "The Lord's Supper" (published by Xlibris). He explains why the Lord's Supper is a spiritual aid that is especially suited to the goal of self mastery, i.e., taking on the mind that was in Christ Jesus and the full "re-awakening" of the Christ within.

This book explains why the Lord's Supper was established, inspiring spiritual vibrancy in those who would make use of it. It shows why and how such vibrancy comes about. It also clearly defines His flesh and blood. Its intent is to show what the Lord expects from his people: that they should be more like Him.

Lupich also explains what the Heavenly Father expects from His children who enter this school that humans call Earth, where "spiritual death" appears to have had the dominance for ages. Some of which are one's reemergence to life, which includes spiritual growth and development; learning about the many faces of evil; knowing how to refuse evil and choose the good; eventual mastery; and the most important accomplishment of all: becoming like the master himself.

The following excerpt from the book capsules the benefits of frequently partaking of the metaphorical Lord's Supper:
"Eternal or everlasting life, IS NOT A GIFT per se, it is simply THE NATURAL CONSEQUENCE OF EATING THE ALLEGORICAL BODY AND BLOOD OF OUR LORD, which is tantamount to INGESTING HIS SPIRIT. Eternal life occurs NOT AS A SUPERNATURAL PHENOMENON OR A HOLY GIFT but simply as the result of having the Christ abiding in us. HE IS THE LIFE!
"ETERNAL LIFE, therefore, IS SIMPLY HOLDING HIM and honoring His substance in our bosoms ETERNALLY."
