John Quincy Adams once said, "If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." Author Kerwin Liverpool has lived by those words, and he shares his journey from humble beginnings through adversity to the realization of his dreams in his new memoir, "The Rise from Poverty to Prosperity" (published by AuthorHouse).

"I am humbled and honoured to share this experience with you," Liverpool writes. "If you're reading this book, then you were or are just like me."

Growing up in a single-parent home in an inner-city community, Liverpool didn't have many resources available to him as a young man, but he stayed determined to overcome all odds. This book reveals hardships he overcame, including an arrest, all while playing basketball to achieve his dream of one day working with the Toronto Raptors.

Following his arrest, Liverpool recognized that he needed to change his life. He gave himself over to God and surrounded himself with positive people and mentors. He decided that finishing school was a must and focused on getting good grades to get into college. The book goes on to detail his career aspirations and shares how his work as an educator has shaped him and his community.
