Dreams are an essential part of life. Having a dream gives a person happiness and a sense of purpose. This is the message at the core of author and illustrator Takashi Mori's new storybook. "The Wings" is a wonderful tale accompanied by beautiful illustrations and filled with valuable nuggets of wisdom about life and dreams.

"The Wings" follows a young girl named Mica who enjoys playing her guitar in the woods. Like wings, Mica's guitar helps her soar to new heights and it gives her a rare sense of joy. However, something unexpected happens - Mica accidentally ruins her prized instrument. She becomes distraught and unhappy. What will she do now? Will she ever be able to play and make music again? Through her striking art work and a compelling narrative, Mori guides readers on an insightful journey with Mica from despair to happiness and from loss to pure triumph.

Suffused with soft whimsy, "The Wings" is a story that reveals, above all, the beauty and power of dreams. Mori's dazzling full color illustrations make this book a visual feast and her tender musings on life and dreams make it a delightful treat for both adults and children.
