GREENVILLE, N.C.

In "The Inflammation Cure Cookbook" (published by Abbott Press), the newly published sequel to the well-received title "The Inflammation Cure," authors K.B. Myers and W.J. Meggs offer readers nutritious recipes that prove healthy eating can also be tasty.

The book suggests that a daily diet including salmon, nuts, green tea and olive and canola oils can help counteract the inflammatory effects of a Western diet.

The authors - one holding a doctorate in human nutrition, the other a practicing physician - suggest using herbs, spices and specific fruits and vegetables to create natural, anti-inflammatory blends.

"We have an aging population and epidemics of diseases related to inflammation, such as obesity, asthma, arthritis, cancer, diabetes, strokes, heart attacks, and Alzheimer's disease," the authors say. "Our over-processed diets, air pollution, smoking, sedentary lifestyles and poor mind states are the causes of these preventable epidemics. This book outlines the steps that a person can follow to help reduce their risk for these diseases."

Unique to this cookbook is the equal amount of nutritional and medicinal information found throughout, the authors say.
