Being a fan of history, Adrian Martin chose to write a story set in the 19th century, one of his favorite periods in history. In "The Heart of Rosy" (published by AuthorHouse), Martin pens a juvenile fiction book that teaches the importance of kindness, love, bravery and individual worth. These are crucial issues in the development of children growing up in modern society.

Set in a fictitious, island country called Morland, this story follows a young woman named Rosy, who must cope with a civil war breaking out in her small, island country and a bed-ridden mother. Rosy finds courage to lend a hand and help the wounded during the war.

Martin wants his readers to feel deep down that they too can make a difference individually. This book reflects the important values Martin learned growing up as a child. "The Heart of Rosy" focuses on a seemingly insignificant, young woman who has little to speak of, but she has a big heart.

"Her life is a teaching tool for children to learn positive traits," the author describes his book. While the story is fictitious, Rosy's character was inspired by Florence Nightingale and Clara Barton. "She has a heart for nursing the wild animals and the injured soldiers. Rosy's acts of love, kindness and courage save her country from self-destructing."
