Author Erik L. Strandness arms Christian readers with accessible language to defend their faith and explain it to others in his new book, "The Director's Cut: Finding God's Screenplay on the Cutting Room Floor" (published by WestBow Press).

Written for lay Christians, "The Director's Cut" delves into Christian apologetics and asserts that only Biblical Christianity can explain the world's existence. The book analyzes several world views from various cultures and religions and offers Strandness' explanations from daily life that show Biblical Christianity's relevance.

To better illustrate his thoughts, Strandness likens God's creation to a movie set. He believes that God is the ultimate director and that evolution is not enough to adequately explain the relationship between humans and animals - characters and props. Therefore, he concludes that all humans must be made in God's image.

Strandness, who practiced medicine for 20 years, often felt himself at odds with his faith, unable to express his beliefs in the same language that he could express his scientific views. When he left the medical world in 2009 and obtained his master's in theology, he sought to provide other Christians with a better understanding of Christian apologetics.

"I want the readers to feel comfortable with their faith so they can be bold advocates for the Gospel," Strandness says. "I want them to break down the barriers between the sacred and secular they have erected in their own lives and live joyfully in God's world."
