"The Brands of a Man" (published by Balboa Press) is a midlife woman's guide for reentering the dating world, realizing that their male counterparts have grown up, too. Through extensive research and in-depth interviews with single midlife women, author Kelly Hanrahan has written this insightful, intriguing and entertaining book that surely will resonate with women-those in both the dating and mating game.

"The Brands of a Man" is a creative spin on the relationship-advice book with an anthropologist's eye for behavioral patterns of the various "brands" of midlife men; there are eight of them. They are: Baby Boy, Control Cop, Damaged Goods, Desperate Dad, Eighteen Again, GBOH (Gold Band of Hell, aka Married), No Strings Attached and Sensitive Smotherer. The book features the real-life experiences of single midlife women with each of these man brands, and offers advice for determining which brand might be one's brand of a man given what one now knows about themselves, and the opposite sex.

"These are good-natured men-all of them. But, honestly, when I reentered the dating world at age 40, these eight brands are whom I discovered 'out there," says author Hanrahan. "And each of them have a key characteristic trait that defines them as that brand-whether he's a widower as in Desperate Dad or badly hurt over his divorce as in Damaged Goods. That trait is there, and makes him that brand."

In the book's final two chapters, there is a psychological shift from identifying with the "man brands" to helping the single, midlife woman identify with her true inner core to ensure her search for lasting love considers whom she was then, and is now at midlife.
