Australia

Through author Paul Carter's profession as the local general practitioner in a small rural town in Australia, he has been privileged to meet many wonderful people. Over the years, in both private and professional capacities, his fellow community members have taken him into their lives and opened themselves up to him. They have shared their hopes, their fears, their highs and their lows. Now their generosity has extended to his sharing all this with a wider audience.

"Tales of a Country Doctor" (published by Xlibris AU) is a series of interlinking short stories, each one dealing with a particular character with whom he has been medically involved. The stories are about Carter's relationships with these everyday heroes of rural Australia, and also about the two way nature of friendship and healing.

Carter aims to explore the profound pleasures of relationships in a world which often seems committed to a headlong rush to a less personal society. He also aims to leave readers with an empty tissue box and a face sore from laughing.
