The world's oldest fruit-tree nursery announced today that 200 Years and Growing: The Story of Stark Bro's Nurseries & Orchards Co. will go on sale January 1, 2016. Stark Bro's discovered both the Red Delicious and Golden Delicious apple.

In celebration of two hundred years in business - a remarkable feat for any company - this book recounts the history of the world's oldest fruit-tree nursery, founded in 1816. The men behind this remarkable enterprise were a formidable group of strong-willed personalities. The family business often crossed lines with the nursery business, and egos, money squabbles and bragging rights were all part of the equation. There were also moments of genius and displays of wisdom, leadership and kindness not often seen in the corporate world. With all of these attendant variables in play, it is a true wonder the company not only still stands, but thrives.

Ken Lane, Chief Marketing Officer, made the announcement. "I found this book to be an education on our past, an affirmation of what we are doing in the present, and a primer as to what we need to do to secure the next 200 years," says Lane.

Says Martha Sue Smith, president of the Board of Directors of the Louisiana Area Historical Museum, "This book, complete with its pictorial history, epitomizes the impact the company has had on the community and ultimately, the world. Ms. Zotta has precisely recorded the history of Stark Bro's, and the Museum will preserve it."

"From the first apple tree planted in Missouri, to the iconic business' embracing of the digital age, this book is a revealing walk through rural Americana," says Louisiana mayor Bart Niedner. "It is an easy read that can readily be enjoyed in whole or by the slice."

In hardcover laminate format, 200 Years and Growing: The Story of Stark Bro's Nurseries & Orchards Co. will have a simultaneous e-book and will be available for U. S. distribution through IngramSpark.
