"Baby boomers have pushed the number of people in the US age 55 and older to over 80 million. This aging population and millennials have accelerated interest in the mysteries of death, afterlife, angels, and intuition," says author Sherry Maysonave, who explores these and other issues prevalent in society in her new novel "The Girl Who Could Read Hearts" (published by Balboa Press).

"This story came to me in a dream where my deceased sister shouted to me from a mountain top," Maysonave says. "One of her messages was clear: she was alive and well in the afterlife. Yet there was something else she was telling me, and that eluded me in the dream. But for the rest of the night, words tumbled endlessly through my head. The next morning, I went to my computer and the story of "The Girl Who Could Read Hearts" was born and began pouring out."

Born gifted with a rare seventh sense - the ability to read human hearts coupled with keen intuition - Kate Kindrick struggles to understand her capabilities. She is often bewildered by her unique perceptions combined with seeing symbols and panoplies of color in people's hearts. Yet it's her naiveté of the intuitive signs that augur trouble. When she doesn't heed an inner warning, her world spins into a dangerous spiral that spells hazard for her and those she loves.

Maysonave explores highly-charged issues such as abuse, eating disorders, prejudice and limiting belief systems, as well as the mysteries of afterlife, death, angels, intuition, true love and learning how to find God's presence in all. Maysonave says she doesn't just believe there is an afterlife, she knows there is.
