CHESHIRE, Conn.

Ghost stories are commonly told to incite fear in the listener, even when he or she knows the story is fictitious. Author Sharon Richter presents a new ghost story - one she says is true. "Faith: Mary's Story" (published by AuthorHouse) is Richter's memoir of her daughter's harassment from a tormenter beyond the grave.

Richter's daughter, Mary, began to experience what Richter calls "psychic harassment" shortly after the death of Diane, Richter's sister-in-law. Richter describes connecting these two events and realizing her sister-in-law might be the one causing her daughter's suffering. She consulted her priest and, with much prayer, her daughter was delivered from this harrowing experience.

"I wrote 'Faith' because I don't believe Mary has been the only one to suffer from the pain of psychic harassment," Richter says. "Mary's faith, strength and bravery throughout her ordeal is a testament that God does hear our prayers."

An excerpt from "Faith":

"Some people were, by the grace of God, victims, and evil would have liked nothing better than to turn us against them. By ridiculing those afflicted, isolating them, withdrawing support, or being judgmental, we fueled the fear evil fed on and created an increasingly negative environment of hopelessness and despair. I was determined to find a way. No one should ever have to fight alone."
