OXFORD, Conn.

The words Jesus spoke from the cross - "Father forgive them..." - rang in author Seth Poston's ears as he dealt with his own difficulties forgiving others. He wondered if it was even possible to forgive as Jesus did. Poston takes readers through his journey of forgiveness in his new book, "My Father's Forgiveness" (published by WestBow Press).

Following his parents' divorce, Poston saw little of his father. Bitterness toward his father grew in Poston's heart. He had difficulty forgiving his father for what he saw as disappearing when Poston needed him most. It would be 15 years before he would have any contact with his father.

Confronted by his lack of forgiveness, Poston realized that he had to forgive his father to release him from the debt he owed Poston. When he had the opportunity to meet his father again, Poston decided it was time to let go. The same night he met with his father, Poston began writing of his journey toward mercy.

"Everyone is in need of forgiveness and most of us have someone in our lives who we need to extend forgiveness to," Poston says.

Poston hopes readers will understand that forgiveness is more than just saying the words "I'm sorry." He wants readers to grasp the concept of true forgiveness that comes from the heart.
