According to the Guttmacher Institute, nearly half of American women will experience an unintended pregnancy and four in 10 of these women will get an abortion. To author Sandra Hilsabeck, those four terminated pregnancies represent four lost opportunities for adoption.

Hilsabeck hopes to change the minds of those leaning towards abortion through her new adoption book, "Ready or Not: 10 Reasons to Love Your Baby" (published by WestBow Press), in which she shares 40 true, inspirational stories of adoption.

"Each time I tell someone I am working on a book about adoption, I hear their story," Hilsabeck says. "It seems everyone has an adoption story in their family or very close friends."

Throughout her book, Hilsabeck shares stories of families who have adopted children, parents who made the decision to have their own children adopted and even of families united after years of being apart. She also pulls from her own experiences fostering 11 children. She then includes passages from the Bible to show the concept of biblical love, as well as familial love.

Hilsabeck hopes her book will not only help expecting parents make the decision to keep their baby, but also help families and children alike appreciate the family they have, biological or not.
