FORT LEE, NJ - Thriller writer Ron Felber's highly anticipated second novel, The Kafka Society, featuring Jack Madson will be published on June 1, 2014 by Barricade Books. When last seen in A Man of Indeterminate Value, Madson who had spent three hundred heart-pumping pages faking his own death, tangling with Chinese criminal syndicates, and engaging with a host of dangerous characters was about to begin a new life in Oregon. Now, in The Kafka Society, Madson has moved to Washington, DC to establish himself as a private detective.

When the novel opens, Madson, who has no memory of the prior twenty-four hours, makes a chilling discovery. His car is drenched in blood, and in the trunk he finds something truly grisly a decapitated head. Without a minute to think, Madson is thrust into the center of a dangerous murder investigation and the discovery of a secret cabal of power, corruption, and greed that touches both the FBI and Homeland Security.

"I like to write books that are intense, edgy, gripping," says Felber. "I write them as social commentary. The Kafka Society is about Jack Madson, about an underground sex club in New York City that is the hub for a monstrous trade in human trafficking run by the upper echelons of global society. These surreal, provocative ideas are an important part of my writing."

The Kafka Society transports readers to places most would never visit, from the devout Catholic organization Opus Dei to the bizarre world of an elaborate sex club beneath the streets of New York to the rough and tough drug dens of the Hell's Angels. Felber's fast-paced storytelling and cutting-edge observations once again engage and mystify readers, leading to questions about what we really know about the highest levels of police power and the darkest activities of the underworld.
